2003 Won Lifetime Achievement Award at the Fifth Biannual World Automation Congress.
2003 Exceptional Service Award at the International Symposium on Uncertainty Modeling and Analysis (ISUMA).
2010 Was appointed as a Distinguished Research Chair in the College of Engineering, University of Saskatchewan.
2013 Won University of Saskatchewan Prime of Life Achievement Award.
2013 Won NSERC Outstanding Merit Award.
2014 Won Bharat Gaurav Award (translates to Pride of India Award) in recognition of contributions and dedication to worthy causes and achievements. This award was conferred annually by the India International Friendship Society to people who have made outstanding contributions.
2014 Won Hind Rattan Award (translates to Jewel of India Award) in recognition of outstanding services, achievements, and contributions in his field. This award is conferred annually by the NRI Welfare Society of India to selected members of the worldwide Indian diaspora.
2018 Awarded Token of Honour award from the IEEE PELS-IES Delhi Chapter.
2021 Recognized by Stanford University as being within the top 1% of researchers in the world based on publications.
2022 Recognized by the International Conference on Industrial Informatics - Computing Technology, Intelligent Technology, Industrial Information Integration (ICIICII 2022) in China for significant contributions to international cooperation in science, technology, and education. There will be annual Professor Madan M. Gupta memorial lectures in the ICIICII series of conferences.
